Congratulations on Scheduling Your Session!
You've made a great choice by setting up this special time for yourself. I’m excited to meet you, and to support and nourish you. Before we meet, I invite you to reflect on your intentions and longings. What are you looking for? How would you like to feel? What would you like to bring into your life? What would you like to let go of?
Please take some time to review the information on this page, and my intake form, which you can download below. It includes some questions for reflection, possibilities for what can be addressed in a series of sessions, and a consent form outlining the boundaries and ethics of our work together.
Note any questions you want to ask, and things you'd like me to know about you and your intentions.
You can email me ahead of time if you have questions at bodysouljourney@protonmail.com.
What to Expect:
Each session starts with time for checking in (along the lines of the intake form), talking about specific desires and intentions for the session, and to transition from hectic outside time to the sacred, safe container of the session. We'll talk about safety and consent, which are foundations for the work.
We will use body-based modalities (e.g. breathing, movement, mindfulness exercises, imagination, sound, touch) to support you in being fully present in your body, to provide loving, compassionate support of your intentions, and to expand your capacity for pleasure, a powerful and gentle healing resource. Touch will be involved at your request, for your benefit, and in ways that align with your intentions, moving at the pace of the body. We'll listen to your body's messages about if and what kinds of touch would be helpful. For online sessions, we'll use guided self touch. After the body-based teaching portion of the session, there is time for savoring and integration.
I’ll check in with you a day or so after each session, by text or phone (your preference), to see how you are doing. I recommend that you take notes about your experience. Write about what happened, what you felt and experienced, and any distracting thoughts or impulses that took away your focus. This will support your integration process and provide important guidance for future sessions.
A Bit of Admin:
For online sessions, I ask for full payment before the session begins. For your first session with me, if it's in person, I request a $100 deposit to confirm your appointment time. You can make the payment in whatever way works best for you:
-
Zelle (send to AbundantBusiness@protonmail.com; it will show up as BSJ Wellness, LLC)
-
Venmo (@Melody-Joyce-2, with last 4 digits of the phone number 0251; please in the comment put "session" or "deposit"),
-
Visa gift card, which you can buy online or in any pharmacy. https://www.vanillagift.com/ If you buy it in a store, just send me a picture of the front and back, after you remove the sticker so that I can see the numbers and activate the card.
For the balance on an in-person session, any of these electronic forms are fine, as is cash.
Communication: I value your privacy and security, so I use ProtonMail for all email communications, and Signal if you want texting as an option (you need a Signal account for this).
Housekeeping: I have a no-shoes apartment, so please plan for that. I share my home with two cats, and will vacuum thoroughly before you arrive, and have an air purifier with a special pet allergy filter in the session room. Please let me know if you have a cat allergy, and I’ll take extra care with the session room. The cats will be in another room behind a closed door, though we might get a bit of a serenade if they are feeling frisky.
I have scent and smoke sensitivities, so please do not wear cologne or scented deodorant/antiperspirant (unscented deodorant/antiperspirant is fine). If you are a smoker, please wear freshly laundered clothes. I so appreciate your understanding!
You are welcome to shower here, before and/or after your session; if you'd rather shower before you arrive, that's fine too. Because I use hot towels to rub off most of the coconut oil, most clients find they don't need to shower afterward (and it feels good too!).
Staying Safe and Not Getting Sick: Safety is a prerequisite for pleasure; your sense of safety is super important to me. If you’d prefer we wear masks, for whatever reason, we will. Let’s not risk getting sick. If either of us doesn't feel well, let's reschedule.
Cancellation Policy: I know that sometimes unexpected things happen, and you end up having to cancel. If you are unable to keep your scheduled appointment, please give at least two days notice. If you have made a deposit, it will apply to your next appointment.
If you cancel on the day of your appointment, I'll request a $100 cancellation fee, and if you cancel twice, then I'll ask for payment in advance in order to book a future session with me. Pre-paid appointments are non-refundable with same-day cancellation, but can be applied to a future appointment.
Extreme emergencies are exceptions.
By booking an appointment, you agree to my cancellation policy.
I am honored to get to work with you, and will do my best to create a safe, welcoming, caring environment to nurture and support you and your intentions. I look forward to meeting you soon and nourishing you with pleasure!
Blessings,
Melody
